We all know how hard is to pick a gift for a child, considering that their view of what’s beautiful or useful is highly different from ours. Even if sometimes a common toy can bring happiness on our kids’ faces, nothing is more memorable than a gift made with all the love in the world by a parent especially for his kiddo. With so many awesome tutorials on the web, I ended up with a list of more than 700 ideas on DIY gifts for kids that seemed interesting to me.

However, as I mentioned, from previous experiences I’ve learn something valuable: kids are harder to impress compared to adults. So, I asked Donna, my little girl, and Brian, my best friend’s little boy to give me a hand by selecting only the gifts they would like to receive from my giant list, and I’m sure it was a good idea because I would have chosen something else entirely. Still, I must admit I’ve cheated a bit because I’ve added a few of my personal preferences, taking into account the fact that a 10 years old girl and an 8 years old boy will never choose something that isn’t fitted for their ages, like a memory game, for example. Are you curious to see the best DIY gift ideas for kids? Here they are!

These are awesome DIY gifts you can make yourself or make with your kid

Miss Pretty Pretty sells the patterns (different themes) for this play house for $12 – $25 and the finished productfor $95-$250, so you can buy them right now, but I think I have an alternative approach… Daddy can build a cubic wooden frame by using some old pieces of wood, whilemommy can repurpose a couple of old bed sheets by using them as raw material for the project. Cut five square pieces of fabric (make sure you measure the frame first), then go wild with decorating them. Cut a door and two windows, sew a zipper for the door, add some ornaments (flowers, dogs, mailbox etc.) made of old clothes, then sew the corners of your “walls” and the playhouse is done.
